5 Branding Basics Every Brand Needs
Brand elements are essential because they help develop your brand identity. Your brand identity creates a cohesive look across your brands channels that will creates a lasting impression and help customers remember who are you! These elements would be used anywhere from packaging, to the editing style of your social media posts and even your email signature - really everything!
LOGO
Your business’ logo is definitely the most vital to your branding as it’s one of the most recognizable aspects of your brand. Audiences will recognize you when they’re out and about by your logo! Your logo will be on emails, social media, your products and more! A logo can either be text based or a symbol that is associated with your brand!
MOOD BOARD
At the beginning of every brand project, a mood board is created. It acts as the creative direction for the brand and is a visual representation of what the brand looks and feels like. The mood board helps with any future content creation such as photoshoot planning because it gives other creatives visual instructions on what the vibe of the brand is - this ensures that all brand elements are cohesive!
COLOR PALETTE
Your brands colour palette typically consists of 4-6 colours and is critical because it plays into all other branding elements and brings everything together. For example, the colour palette is incorporated into the logo, brand stationary, packaging, graphics, website and more. As consumers, we know when a brand has created a great colour scheme when we see colours together and automatically think of a brand - for example blue and yellow for Walmart.
TYPOGRAPHY
The brand typography adds to the overall look and feel of the brand. Having typography that is cohesive across all platforms and channels allows for stronger brand recognition. Having set fonts for your brand also makes it easier to create branding collateral and content with a cohesive look.
BRAND PHOTOGRAPHY
Your brand’s content and photography also helps define your brand. We recommend using similar filters or presets to edit your photos, or working with a photographer on consistent content to ensure that all content is cohesive and on-brand. You can also include props or items with on-brand colours to bring your colour palette into your content. This will bring your brand together in a cohesive way and create a consistent look that will make you more memorable to potential customers!
